Today, 17 March 2023, Pre-Trial Chamber II of the International Criminal Court (ICC) or the Court issued warrants of arrest for two individuals in the context of the ICC investigation into the Situation in Ukraine.
Background
On 17 March 2023, following an investigation of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for President Vladimir Putin of Russia.
Charges
The Pre-Trial Chamber of the UN-backed International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia on charges of war crimes for his role in the conflict in Ukraine.

The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant last Friday for two individuals in the context of the ICC investigation into the Situation in Ukraine. The warrants were issued under seal and remain sealed. The ICC does not disclose the names of the suspects until they are arrested or surrender themselves to the Court.
The ICC is an independent, international court that investigates and prosecutes individuals accused of the most serious crimes of concern to the international community, namely genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression.
